The Jammu & Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) has received an Indent from Home Department for filling up vacancies under direct recruitment, as per the details indicated below:

Accordingly, the JKSSB invites online application forms from eligible candidates for participating in the selection process for the aforementioned posts. The important dates/details with regard to the posts being advertised are as under:
- Date of Commencement for submission of Online Application Forms: 03.12.2024.
- Cut-off Date i.e. Last Date for submission of Online Application Forms: 02.01.2025.
- Annexure A, B & C: Name of the Post, Cadre, Pay Level, Category-wise break up, Qualification and Criteria for Selection for the advertised posts.
The detailed Terms and Conditions with regard to Eligibility, Educational Qualification, Domicile, Reservation, Physical Standards etc. for participating in the selection process for the aforementioned posts are as under:
- APPOINTMENT OF THE CANDIDATES:
The Appointment and other service conditions in respect of the candidates selected through this selection process, shall be governed as per extant rules/regulations.
- DOMICILE:
The candidates seeking to apply for the advertised posts shall be Domiciles of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir and must possess a valid Domicile Certificate issued by the Competent Authority on the prescribed format on or before the cut-off date i.e. last date of submission of online application forms, which, unless otherwise extended, shall be 02.01.2025.
03) VACANCIES:
The details of posts advertised are given in Annexure-A to this Notification. However, the number of posts can undergo increase or decrease without any Notice before the completion of the selection process.
04) AGE LIMIT:
The requirement of age for applying against these posts, as on 01.01.2024 for Open Merit & various Reserved Category Candidates, shall be as under:

05) QUALIFICATION REQUIRED:
- As per the Indent received from the Indenting Department and relevant recruitment rules, the qualification prescribed for the advertised posts is shown in Annexure-A to this Notification.
- The candidates who are declared qualified by the Board for Document Verification will be required to produce relevant Certificates in original as proof of having acquired the prescribed educational qualification on or before the cut-off date fixed for filling online application forms, failing which the candidature of such candidates shall be cancelled by the Board.
- Candidates may note that their candidature/admission in examination will remain provisional till the genuineness of their documents relating to educational qualification is verified by the Appointing Authority.
- In case of candidates claiming possession of equivalent educational qualification (where it is applicable/required), it shall be mandatory to produce relevant Equivalence Certificate or seek equivalence from the concerned competent authorities as and when required by the Board. However, final decision regarding selection of such candidates will be taken by the Board, in light of relevant rules which shall be

06) APPLICATION OF RESERVATION:
- The Reservation for the posts under this Advertisement Notification shall be applicable as per the category-wise break up of vacancies as conveyed by the Indenting Department and in accordance with the provisions of the Jammu & Kashmir Reservation Act/Rules, as amended from time to time.
- Candidates seeking consideration under Reserved Categories must ensure that they possess a valid/ Category Certificate strictly as on the Cut Off Date and the same is required to be uploaded while submitting online application.
- Candidates may note that their candidature will remain provisional till the genuineness and validity of the Reserved Category Certificate is verified by the Appointing Authority.
- Candidates are cautioned to note that in case a claim for reservation is made on the basis of false/fake/fraudulent/forged certificate, they shall be debarred from the examination(s) conducted by the Board, besides penal action as may be deemed appropriate should be initiated against them.
07) HORIZONTAL RESERVATION (wherever applicable under rules):
- Horizontal Reservation means the reservation which would cut across the vertical reservation and the persons selected shall have to be placed in the appropriate category by making necessary adjustments.
- Horizontal Reservation for Ex-Servicemen (ESM) and Women candidates shall be applicable to the extent as communicated by the Indenting Department/s in accordance with the extant rules/regulations.
- Persons with Disability(PwD) candidates are not eligible for these posts and as such, Horizontal Reservation is not applicable to the PwD candidates for these posts.
- In terms of S.O. 361 of 2021 dated 20.10.2021, an Ex-Serviceman on joining any post after having availed Horizontal Reservation, cannot avail the benefit of Horizontal Reservation as Ex-Servicemen for any subsequent Employment. A candidate seeking to apply under ESM category shall be required to submit an affidavit duly sworn before 15t Class Judicial Magistrate in this regard at the time of scrutiny of documents.
- ESM candidates shall be required to produce a Certificate in form-XIV duly signed by the competent authority as provided in the Rule 18 of Jammu and Kashmir Reservation Rules, 2005.
- In case sufficient number of candidates belonging to the Ex-servicemen are not available on the basis of General standard to fill all the vacancies reserved for them, candidates belonging to the category of Ex-servicemen may be selected under the relaxed standard of selection to make up the deficiency in the reserved quota subject to the condition that such relaxation will not affect the level of performance by such candidates.
- In terms of S.O. 288 dated 14.06.2022, of Home Department, Horizontal Reservation to the extent of 15% of the available vacancies in direct recruitment shall be earmarked for women candidates in non-gazetted ranks. The quota so reserved shall not be carried forward to the subsequent year, in case suitable women candidates are not available.
08) APPLICATION FEE:
-
- Fee payable: Rs.700/-(Rupees Seven Hundred only), In case of candidates belonging to SC, ST-1, ST-2 and EWS category, the fee payable shall be 600/- (Rupees Six Hundred only).
- Fee can be paid only through online mode Net Banking, Credit or Debit cards.
- Applications received without the prescribed fee shall not be considered and shall be summarily rejected. No representation against such rejection will be entertained. Fee once paid shall not be refunded under any circumstances nor will it be adjusted against any other examination or selection.
- All the disputes related to refund of excess payment, if any, are subject matter of relevant bank and J&K Services Selection Board. Candidates are advised to apply for refund of excess payment, if any, through official e-mail ssbjk-grievance@jk,gov.in No chargeback request shall be entertained.
- DATE & CENTRE OF EXAMINATION:
The J&K Services Selection Board shall notify the dates for examination and the Venue/Centre(s) of examination separately. The details shall be made available on the website of the Board i.e. www.jkssb,nic.in. No representation/request for change in this regard shall be entertained, whatsoever be the reason.
- SCHEME OF EXAMINATION:
(I) WRITTEN EXAMINATION:
- a) The Examination will consist of Objective Type Multiple Choice Questions. The questions will be set in English Language only.
- b) There will be Negative Marking for each wrong answer to the extent of one-fourth ofmarks assigned to that question.
- c) In terms of SO 290 dated 20.08.2021 of Home Department, the candidates possessing National Cadet Corps (NCC) Certificate shall be awarded bonus marks, at the following scales:
- 5% of the maximum marks of the examination for NCC “C” Certificate holders.
- 3% of the maximum marks of the examination for NCC “B” Certificate holders.

- 2% of the maximum marks of the examination for NCC “A” Certificate holders.
(II) PHYSICAL STANDARD TEST: The candidates shall be shortlisted for appearing in the physical standard test on the basis of written test which shall be six times the total number of vacancies to be filled up in each category. The shortlisted candidates should meet the following physical standards:
- a) For Males:
- Height: 5′-6″ (minimum)
- Chest girth: 32″ (unexpanded)
- Chest girth: 33 1/2″ (expanded)
- b) For Females: Height: 5′-2″ (minimum)
- Provided that for the candidates belonging to the Gorkha Community, the minimum Height shall be relaxable by 2″.
- Provided that for the candidates belonging to the Bot Tribe, the minimum Height shall be relaxable by 2″. (S.O. 343 dated 21.06.2024 of Home Department).
(III) PHYSICAL ENDURANCE TEST: The candidates who meet the above physical standards shall be required to undergo physical endurance test, which shall consist of the following:
- A) I) For Male candidates
Long Race: 1600 meters in 6 1/2 minutes (Six minutes thirty seconds) Pushups: 20 (one cycle of up and down to be counted as one)
- II) For Female candidates
Long Race: 1000 meters in 61/2 minutes (Six minutes and thirty seconds) Shot put (4 Kgs): 14 1/2 feet in three attempts.
- B) Special provisions regarding relaxation in Physical Endurance Test for Ex-Serviceman:
The Ex- Serviceman candidates shall be required to qualify Physical Endurance Test as per the following relaxed standards:

Explanation I: For the purpose of this rule, the age of the Ex-Serviceman shall be his actual age i.e.as on 1st January of 2024.
Explanation II: All Ex-Servicemen shall be required to pass the written tests and fulfill the prescribed physical standards apart from meeting the medical standards prescribed for direct recruits.
Note: The Physical Standard Test and Physical Endurance Test shall be of qualifying nature only.
- C) Medical Examination
The selected candidates, with reference to the vacancies, will be medically examined to assess their physical and medical fitness.

The Syllabus for the posts shall be notified separately and made available on the official website of JKSSB.
